OUR STORY

Born in Sheboygan, WI in 1934, Wally Weimann was number 6 of 12 children. At the young age of 14 years old, he went to work to support the family, cutting shoe patterns at Jung’s Shoes during the day and at night, he hand set pins at a local bowling alley. Between shifts, he found time to train as a Golden Glove Boxer and was sponsored by his employer at Jung's Shoes. He was so proud of his 31-1 fight record.

Wally then joined the army and was stationed in Germany where he and his wife, Terry, had their first of three children. After their time in Germany they came back to the homeland in Sheboygan and raised their two boys and daughter. Like millions of Americans, Wally spent his life working to keep a roof over his family’s head and food on the table.

James Weimann, Wally’s son and co-owner of Rhein Haus, has built this Wisconsin tavern in the heart of Denver to honor his father’s dedication to family, hard work, and fighting spirit. Although Wally is no longer with us, we carry on in honor of his spirt every day!
